Prudent Cloud Advisory

Make confident cloud decisions. Understand what to migrate, what to optimize and how to manage cloud spending — with a prioritized plan, not just a report.

Three services. One clearer cloud strategy.

Start with the question that matters most to your organization. Each engagement is scoped around your environment, available data and desired outcomes.

01

Migration Assessment & Business Case

Decide what to move — and why.

Evaluate migration options before committing to implementation. We assess your environment, identify readiness gaps and build a business case linking technical choices to cost, risk and operations.

What we assess

  • Application and infrastructure inventory, dependencies and usage
  • Migration readiness, constraints and business-critical requirements
  • Placement options, including retaining workloads where appropriate
  • Migration and target-state operating cost estimates, with assumptions
  • Sequencing, key risks and implementation prerequisites

What you receive

Readiness assessment, scenario-based cost model, prioritized recommendations and a migration roadmap.

Best suited for

Organizations considering a move to the cloud or reassessing where workloads should run.

02

Cloud Cost & Workload Optimization

Improve the economics of the cloud you already use.

Identify where usage, configuration and purchasing choices may be creating avoidable cost, evaluated against performance, reliability and operational needs — not savings in isolation.

What we assess

  • Billing and usage patterns, cost drivers and unexplained changes
  • Idle or underused resources and rightsizing opportunities
  • Scheduling, storage and resource-lifecycle improvements
  • Purchasing and commitment options where suitable
  • Implementation effort, dependencies and potential service impact

What you receive

Findings report, prioritized action backlog and estimated savings opportunities with assumptions and validation steps.

Best suited for

Organizations seeking cost visibility and a practical plan to improve cloud efficiency.

03

FinOps

Create a repeatable approach to cloud financial management.

Bring finance, engineering and business stakeholders together around shared cost information and clear accountability.

What we assess

  • Cost ownership, allocation and tagging recommendations
  • Budgeting, forecasting and spending-review processes
  • Reporting requirements and stakeholder dashboards
  • Decision rights, optimization ownership and review cadence
  • FinOps improvement roadmap aligned to organizational maturity

What you receive

Current-state assessment, recommended operating practices, reporting requirements and a prioritized FinOps roadmap.

Best suited for

Organizations moving from reactive cost reviews to an ongoing, accountable management process.

Migration Assessment Roadmap

An illustrative 8–9 week timeline

Durations are illustrative for a mid-sized environment and adjust to the number of applications, data quality and stakeholder availability. Phases overlap so cost modeling begins while dependency analysis is completing.

0. Scoping & kickoff
1. Discovery & inventory
2. Readiness & dependency analysis
3. Options & workload dispositions
4. Cost model & business case
5. Roadmap & executive readout

0. Scoping & kickoff

~1 week

Key activities
Confirm business drivers, scope, success criteria and stakeholders; agree data-sharing, access and confidentiality terms.
Customer inputs
Executive sponsor, scope boundaries, technical and finance contacts.
Deliverables
Assessment plan and scope statement; data request list.

1. Discovery & inventory

~2 weeks

Key activities
Build application and infrastructure portfolio; collect utilization, licensing and cost data; capture business criticality and ownership.
Customer inputs
CMDB or inventory exports, utilization data, contracts, architecture documents.
Deliverables
Portfolio inventory; data-gap register; baseline of current costs.

2. Readiness & dependency analysis

~3 weeks

Key activities
Assess technical and organizational readiness; map dependencies; identify security, compliance, resilience and data constraints.
Customer inputs
Application owner interviews, security and compliance requirements, SLAs.
Deliverables
Readiness findings; dependency map; constraints and risk register.

3. Options & workload dispositions

~2 weeks

Key activities
Evaluate disposition for each workload (retain, rehost, replatform, refactor, retire); group workloads into candidate migration waves.
Customer inputs
Review of business priorities and application roadmaps.
Deliverables
Disposition recommendations; candidate wave plan.

4. Cost model & business case

~3 weeks

Key activities
Model current-state versus target-state costs, including one-time migration costs, operating costs, risks and sensitivities; document assumptions.
Customer inputs
Finance review of cost assumptions; pricing or discount information.
Deliverables
Scenario cost model; business-case summary with assumptions.

5. Roadmap & executive readout

~2 weeks

Key activities
Sequence waves; define prerequisites, governance, resourcing needs and decision points; present recommendations.
Customer inputs
Decision-maker availability; feedback on draft findings.
Deliverables
Final report; prioritized migration roadmap; executive presentation.

Decision gates

Three points where you can adjust scope, pause or stop:

  • After Phase 1: Is the available data sufficient to continue with the planned scope?
  • After Phase 3: Do the proposed workload dispositions reflect business priorities?
  • After Phase 4: Is the business case strong enough to proceed to implementation planning?

After the assessment

Implementation is not assumed. Possible next steps, each scoped separately:

  • Detailed landing-zone, security and migration-wave planning
  • Pilot migration or proof of concept for a selected workload group
  • Cost-optimization review once workloads are running
  • FinOps Advisory to establish ongoing cost governance

Engagement tiers

Portfolio Assessment

Scope

One application group or business unit; limited discovery  assessment & Business Case; high-level cost comparison and recommendations.

Typical fit

Early-stage question or a first engagement. A clear view of whether cloud is worth pursuing and where to focus. Delivered as a range with stated assumptions, not a validated savings figure.

Migration Planning

Scope

Full roadmap for a defined portfolio; scenario cost model; wave plan and executive readout.

Typical fit

Customers evaluating a meaningful migration decision. OUTCOME A validated business case and a plan the customer can approve and execute.

Value Acceleration

Scope

Large or complex portfolio, multiple business units, deeper dependency and compliance analysis, extended stakeholder workshops.

Typical fit

Enterprise portfolios and regulated environments. Outcome Sustained cost efficiency and a continuing modernization pipeline. Positioned as a recurring service, scoped and priced separately from the assessment packages.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to be planning a migration?+

No. Cloud Cost & Workload Optimization and FinOps Advisory can be scoped for an existing cloud environment.

Will every assessment recommend moving to the cloud?+

No. Recommendations follow the agreed objectives and findings. Retaining a workload or deferring migration may be part of the plan.

Does the assessment include implementation or ongoing monitoring?+

Not unless expressly included in the engagement scope. Implementation support and recurring services are defined separately.

How are savings and cost estimates presented?+

Estimates identify the baseline, data used and modeling assumptions. Actual results depend on implementation, usage, pricing and business requirements; savings are not guaranteed.

What information do you need to start?+

Typically workload inventories, architecture documentation and billing or usage data. Access, confidentiality and data-handling requirements are agreed before information is shared.
